Meet Jorge

Jorge Arias, MA, LMT, RYT

Jorge is an experienced transpersonal, somatic and psychedelic integration coach based in Brooklyn, New York and northeast Connecticut. He has extensive knowledge in various methods of alternative healing and bodywork, which he draws on to help people reconnect to, and fulfill, their deepest potential.

Born in Argentina, Jorge experienced a birthing trauma that resulted in paralysis on the left side of his body during his first few years of life. In the background of those challenging years was the massive political upheaval and military coup of 1985, which led his family to immigrate to the United States. Needless to say, his childhood was full of physical, emotional and spiritual challenges. In healing and overcoming these challenges, Jorge developed a mature, intuitive sense of empathy. From an early age, he began to recognize that even though his difficult experiences were personal, all people face hardship and experience suffering. This set him on a lifelong path to uncover what it means for humans to heal and thrive.

At age 15 Jorge began what would become extensive travels throughout Central and South America. As he traveled he immersed himself in a range of intellectual, emotional, somatic, and spiritual disciplines. He dedicated himself to studies in philosophy, human behavior, biology, cultures, linguistics and history. He explored an array of religious teachings and spiritual practices, including contemplative and mystery traditions. These experiences ultimately brought him to deeper studies in nature-based practices, entheogenic shamanism, affective neuroscience and the principles of integral and somatic psychology.

Jorge’s formal education led him to achieve both a B.A. in Psychology and a B.S. in Oceanography from Hawaii Pacific University. After working for NOAA in marine mammal conservation and for the non-profit Breakthrough for Youth At-Risk on Oahu, he completed his M.A. in Integral Counseling Psychology through California Institute of Integral Studies.

Jorge is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychedelic Studies in partnership with AWE.ngo. This program incorporates gestalt therapy, history, indigenous practices and ethics into the therapeutic use of plant medicines. In 2023 Jorge began a 4-year apprenticeship through the Karuna School and Planetary Dharma. Here he is cultivating teaching skills and deeper understanding of how meditation principles interface with western psychology and neuroscience.

Jorge’s approach to coaching and therapy is multi-faceted and holistic. Above all, it is compassionate and tailored to each individual's needs. He is blessed to have trained among eminent practitioners in various healing modalities for over 25 years. It is his great honor to weave his expertise together in service of healing and empowering others.
